14 大有 Great Possession
Judgement
You have a lot: resources, position, strength, or simply a good moment. There is great progress. But having a lot is not the end of the road, it is the start of another responsibility. What you own asks for care and good use. Ask yourself what you do with what you have and for whom. The great, badly carried, becomes heavy. Well carried, it is shared and appreciated.
Image
Fire burns above heaven and everything is lit: nothing stays hidden. With so much light it is easy to see what is right and what is wrong. The task is to check the bad and make room for the good, in harmony with the excellent nature you received. It is not about judging anyone, but about choosing clearly what to support and what to leave. When you have a lot, choosing well is the greatest responsibility.
Lines
Line 1
You do not go near anything that harms you, and you are unlikely to go wrong. You still have little, and there is not much to lose. But recognize the difficulties of your position: with that awareness, you can avoid error to the end. Starting with few resources teaches you to take nothing for granted.
Line 2
A big cart, loaded with goods. Wherever you go, you are unlikely to go wrong. This is an image of capacity: you have the means to carry what others need. Do not use it to impress, but to transport. Ask yourself what load you could carry for someone who cannot manage it. Resources make sense when they serve.
Line 3
A prince offers his gifts to the Son of Heaven: he gives what is his to something greater than himself. Someone who looks only to their own gain is not equal to that task. Ask yourself which cause greater than you could receive part of what you own, expecting nothing in return.
Line 4
You have enormous resources and you keep them under control. You are unlikely to go wrong. This is well-measured power: it does not strain to show what it has. Holding back what you could do is harder than doing it. Ask yourself how much of what you own you need to show.
Line 5
Your sincerity is met by the sincerity of others: you trust them and they trust you. Keep, too, a calm dignity, a natural authority. That is a good sign. Someone who is close but respectful draws real loyalty. Ask yourself whether your closeness gives security and your firmness gives confidence.
Line 6
Help comes to you from heaven, and it can work to your advantage in everything. This is the sign of someone who, having acted with integrity, receives what they could not get by themselves. Something holds you up that you do not control. Receive it with gratitude and without pride, and ask yourself whom you should thank.
Reflection
- What do you do with what you have, and whom does it serve?
- How much of your strength do you need to show, and how much can you simply keep?
- What help have you received without fully recognizing it?
